Annual Idaho Child Maltreatment Medical Providers Conference

The conference is intended to improve the quality of medical care provided to Idaho’s victims of child abuse and neglect. The intended audience is the medical providers (physicians, nurses, nurse practitioners) across the state who provide medical evaluations for this population. A secondary goal is to improve the collaboration across the state, and therefore improve services throughout the state.

1. Appropriately identify various types of child physical and sexual abuse Cite the most relevant literature pertaining to the field Discuss how to incorporate research and medical literature into practice
2. Identify the most prevalent forms of child medical neglect Demonstrate how to competently manage child neglect utilizing medical knowledge and available resources Provide support to patients, families, fellow healthcare providers, and other members of the multidisciplinary team regarding the issues surrounding child medical neglect
3. Discuss the utilization of mobile child advocacy centers
4. Review appropriate documentation (both written and photography) of child maltreatment cases.
5. Review statewide guidelines for the collection of forensic evidence in child maltreatment cases.

The Southwest Idaho Area Health Education Center designates this Live Activity for a maximum of 7.00 AMA PRA Category 1 credit^TM (s). Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
