Idaho Child Abuse Medical Provider Conference 2023

The conference is intended to improve the quality of medical care provided to Idaho’s victims of child abuse and neglect. The intended audience is the medical providers (physicians, nurses, nurse practitioners) across the state who provide medical evaluations for this population. A secondary goal is to improve the collaboration across the state, and therefore improve services throughout the state.

1. Identify the Child Advocacy Centers in Idaho. Discuss services offered at different locations and methods of patient access and resources.
2. Review statewide guidelines for the collection of forensic evidence in child maltreatment cases. discuss trainings and education opportunities provided by State of Idaho.
3. Appropriately identify various types of child physical and sexual abuse Cite the most relevant literature pertaining to the field Discuss practical application of research and medical literature into practice
4. review preparation for court for medical providers. discuss legal definitions of child abuse and criteria that need to be met to meet these definitions.

The Southwest Idaho Area Health Education Center designates this Live Activity for a maximum of 6.50 AMA PRA Category 1 credit^TM (s). Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
